Today I am reviewing a Hindi Crime Thriller Web Series Named Paatal Lok. Amazon Prime Original latest flick Paatal Lok is released on 15, May 2020 on Prime Video.
This sensational Hindi-Language web television series is directed by Avinash Arun who previously inspired audience both on domestic and international level with his 2014 Marathi language movie Killa. Anushka Sharma serves as the producer of this series and impressed audience as a producer many times such as NH10, Phillauri & Pari. Anushka always took risk and make way for new faces and talent in the industry and always left audience in awe of these talent actors or directors. This crime thriller is her most impressive production venture and worth every second of your precious time. Paatal Lok is treat for every one who loved crime genre.
The story is about a common cop named Hathiram Chaudhary played by none other than Jaideep Ahlawat who in his previous appearances were always hard to ignored a always played a shady or anti-hero kind of roles whether it was Raees, Khatta-Meetha, Gangs of Wasseypur or Commando. Hathiram Chaudhary’s character is stuck in police for more than 15 years yet never had a prominent case in his hands. And suddenly maybe the biggest case of that time and region handed over to him in which four individuals are suspected for conspiracy to murder one of most influential public figures of all time.
The brilliance of the web television series is its layered writing, great performances by ensemble cast and image/portrayal of society and reflection of truth to these elements of life. Several moments in the series that definitely takes you for a roller coaster ride for sure and some left you amazed or shocked. Also another talk able point of this excellent series is that it deals with some most important social issues like racial differentiation, caste and clan, dirty politics, freedom of expressions in so called modern society, polarizing world now a days, dual face of media and may other which many times left un-whispered or ignored.
Writing and direction are two of most vital pillars on whom the whole incredible building of this series stands upon, gives you an uncanny resemblance of our society beautifully captured onscreen. It also gives us idea how we unintentionally segregated our society into different portions, one with all facilities labeled as Swarg Lok (heaven) lower to that is Dharti Lok (middle class) and at the bottom is Pataal Lok (underworld).
